"Homeward Bound"
18 men cast out on to this sea
We've been left to our fates.
We were 19 originally,
But our quartermaster met a date.
His work is now over,
And ours has just begun.
Norton won't see the Cliffs of Dover,
He's left behind his old mum.
We were all Jamaica bound,
And over the horizon came Tofoa.
Watching the lava flow, but no sound,
Unlike Kragatoa.
We were all at rest,
When we heard, seize him!
The Captain was undressed,
Who'd have believed, mutiny was slim.
But here we are,
Drifting our lives away.
Searching the stars,
Crying for a new day.
The wind and the waves,
Like a mountain we have climbed.
Our minds in a daze,
The Bells of St. Mary's I hear chimed?
Loosing our minds,
Not enough to eat.
Constant bailing,no relief do we find,
So spoiled is the meat.
Just enough for 20 days more,
Says our commander, Bligh.
Bread & water and sores,
Sailing & rowing away our thighs.
How long has it been Master Fryer?
Since we were forced to quit the ship,
And Captain, was Christian a liar?
I see you write the words from his lips.
A bit more wine Captain if you please,
I feel I'm slipping away.
I'm in such pain and can't sneeze,
No feeling in my arms left today.
Hooza for Timor you say,
We have finally arrived.
Ashore in Coupang today,
Thank you Captain, we have survived.
When will we eat?
How much can we have?
I'm for any kind of meat,
A bit of sleep I now crave.
We are going home with a just cause due,
We just need some rest.
Tomorrow we'll be as good as new,
Won't we Captain, you said we were the best.
I close my tired eyes,
And I see me ole mum.
I'll dream on till I die,
Coming home, my nightmare is done?
