No One Knows My Name

David Townsend (1 Jan 2005)

Dedicated to the Pacific Rim 11 nations victims which suffered the 9.0 earthquake and tsunami of Dec. 2004

We are bound for certain death,
Out here on this cold watery sea.
When I was born, they knew my breath,
But my last one no one will see.

This miserable little boat,
With crewmates sorely band.
We fight to stay afloat,
Baling with blistered hands.

It seems like a useless battle,
To keep on in this way,
Alive, but our mind rattles,
With hope for another day.

We had a dream for Paradise to see,
It was Tahiti's shores,
And bring back the breadfruit tree.
From which many are bore.

Back to England from Jamaica's coast,
On the last leg, homeward bound.
We had done what others wanted most,
Only to end up here, voices without sound.

We are here and no one knows my face,
Honor without shame.
I'm going to die in a place,
Where no one knows my name.
