The Twin Towns have a unique system of landholding. Groups of settlers (holders) voluntarily joined together under the leadership of particularly experienced farmer/sheepherders (holderleaders) in the years following the establishment of the colony. These groups of holders cleared the land, built their own compounds and a holding manor house which serves as the office and housing for visitors. The holders receive all profits from that land. When a holder dies or decides to leave, applicants to replace him/her are voted on by the entire population of the holding, including the children over age 3. (Children are strongly encouraged in the holdings.) Elderly or disabled holders may retire on the holding if they have been holders for at least 10 years, and "earn their keep" by doing small jobs suited to their physical condition. The current holdings are:

| di Pelliccia Holding Manor House | Located on the main road to Catclaw, the Manor house has an inn famous for serving foods raised locally and spiced exotically. They also sell locally sewn quilts, blankets, and coats famous for their warmth. |
| Farmer's Rest | A relatively large cluster of six buildings that serve as the manor house for the Mithran Holding, as well as a travelers' inn. The Rest includes an inn (that serves excellent wines), stable, general store, chapel, a facility for treatment of illness (people and animals), and a theatre/school where visiting bards, players, and masters are encouraged to speak, sing, or play to to all who are interested. The Farmer's Rest attracts many who eventually return to live in the Twin Towns. It is run exclusively by retired Mithran Holders. |
| Mine | The Twin Towns Mine produces moderate amounts of copper, silver, and tin. The refining process, which is a very well-kept secret and includes some magic components, is said to have been developed by the Tonttu. |
| Mirrigan Inn | A small cluster of 5 buildings that serves as both a travelers' inn and the manor house for the Mirrigan holding. The Inn also is the base for a rather lucretive spice trade that extends as far as Hardonas. Unlike the Farmer's Rest, the Mirrigan Inn has a rather "wide open" reputation, and has gotten in trouble with clerical authorities for its "anything goes" attitude. It also has the reputation for encouraging political and social debate that have been known to foment intrigues. |
