Minet's Chronicles of a Wandering Mind

Minet Portrait

Who is Minet? Well, first of all, he's a teacher. And like any teacher, he's a lifelong student. He's a wanderer, because there is always something interesting to learn, and new friends to make a couple of miles down the road. I suppose you might call him an adventurer, because he keeps running into situations that look like they need fixing. And Minet is a writer, because he's never without a pen and paper, to record the happenings of his day, and the observations he makes about his world and its citizens.

His world? Where is he from? Minet was born and grew up in Hyys, a large city in the Hegemony of Hardonas & Hyys on the continent of Felinio, one of the seven continents of Drak. The fantasy world of Drak is a wonderful place for storytellers, PBEM campaigners, and role-playing fans who happen also to be cat-lovers! Along with the normal cast of citizens (humans, dwarves, elves, and orcs), felines make up 1/3 of the population. There are also new races ... spirits, vespers, phantoms, felesprits, and catlings (halflings). Did I mention, Minet is a feline. Now we aren't talking about your average house cat here...I mean, they may share some of the same genes, but felines are a race of very intelligent, charismatic beings who make up a third of Drak's population, and at least two thirds of the world's brainpower, at least that's what Minet says.

The world of Drak? Well, they call it the "Dragoncat World". Let me assure you that there are no dragoncats running around ... well, actually everyone living there is, since it was the dragoncats that settled this chunk of dirt eons ago, and all the races that live here today are descendants of those ancient beings. But other than that, Drak is a pretty normal world. A bit of magic thrown around here and there, but that's normal. isn't it? And the people who live there are really nice. Oh sure, they have the Woodsmen walking around hating anyone who doesn't look human, but every planet has that kind of nut in one form or another, and besides, they're pretty much powerless and divided now, so they don't cause as much trouble as they used to. Sometimes the royal courts and the politicians get themselves into some pretty involved messes, but the people usually bail them out, sometimes with the aid of the many gods that look after the place. Drak has a history, literature, languages, famous characters past and present, religions, music, art, cuisine, and lots more. But hey, why am I trying to describe all this. You can get it firsthand here on the Internet if you visit The Drak Web Site. Plan to stay a while and take a look at all the sections. There is a lot there, and as the historians and geographers continue their work, it's web site is growing.

Play By E-Mail (PBEM) Gaming? Computers and the Internet provide many kinds of role-playing games. Role-Playing worlds and games seem to come in two main flavors ... those that appeal most to warrior/generals and those that attract writer/storytellers. Drak is a well-developed, interesting, multi-faceted world, a place worth exploring and enjoying, not that there is a lack of nasty folks and potential for combat (Minet is still healing from his last brush with death!). You could probably use any game system to conduct campaigns on Drak, but the world seems to be most amenable to storytellers who would rather weave tales than smash & hack. But if you insist, you'll never find nastier characters than the Shadow Cats, and although life on Drak is generally medieval, there are hints here and there that it has not been untouched by advanced contacts with "others".

So why does Minet have his own website? Well, mostly because he likes to write down things that he has seen and experienced, and this is his home, where he can kick off his boots and relax. After all, he does have to have a place where he can plug in his PC! But when he's in Felinio City, he tends to spend his time at the Thirsty Dragon Inn, where he can share a mug of sailor's ale with friends, and discuss matters of importance or just swap tales. But here in his Chronicles, Minet will be writing his ideas, telling his stories, and linking you to other Internet places he likes to visit.

Minet's Portrait Archive Over the long years, Minet has often been given portraits of friends and other beings of importance he has had dealings with. He has carefully preserved them in an archive at the Carian Library, although he carries Lauriane & Alain DuNord's pictures in his pack, hoping he will some day meet them again.
