Pandanus leaves are dried, cut into strips, and dyed, then they are hand-woven into varying sizes of bag, the size varying with the price of the bag. Basketmaking is a complex process that entails up to 4 weeks of work for each basket or bag.

Preparation of the pandanus leaves is the same as with the shopping bags and fans, but baskets are made on a wooden form to create the different shapes. Price is again based on size. Available as Round, Square, and Tara baskets. Niew (Coconut) Baskets are especially useful for gardening. Miniature (baby) baskets are also available. Round Baskets often come with "Pitcairn Island" woven into them. Some Round Baskets also come with covers, and nested sets of 3, 4 or 6 round sewing baskets are also available.
