George Toofie Christian:
Pilli Lornga N.I., Songs from Norfolk Island
In the early 1990s Toofie began writing songs that reflected aspects of Norfolk Island's history. His musical style draws on country, pop, folk, blues and hapa haole-style Hawaiian music. The title of this CD refers to Toofie's life-long residence on and committment to Norfolk Island (pilli lornga meaning 'sticking with'). This is Toofie's recording debut, and the songs attest to the uniqueness, diversity and resilience of contemporary Norfolk Island culture. Contact Denis Crowdy for further information.
